Greater Manchester Police cordoned off an area near Superdrug in Piccadilly Gardens on Tuesday night (May 19) following reports of a suspected stabbing.

A police helicopter circled above the city centre for at least 40 minutes, reportedly searching for those involved. A male was seen being rushed into an ambulance as a huge emergency services presence descended on the area.

Within the cordoned area, medical debris could be seen lying on the ground, including bloodied bandages inside the blue tape. Roads were closed and CID officers attended the scene.
