Murder probe launched after woman, 61, found dead at Mossley home

Police were called to Winterford Road on Tuesday evening following a concern for welfare. A 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed.

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a property in Mossley, Tameside.

Police were called to an address on Winterford Road at around 5.25pm on Tuesday (August 4) following a concern for welfare. A 61-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been released on bail.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 5.25pm on Tuesday 4 August, we were called to a concern for welfare at an address on Winterford Road, Mossley. Emergency services attended and sadly a woman, aged 61, was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no wider risk to the public."

They added: "A man, aged 60, was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been bailed pending further enquiries."
