Greater Manchester Weather: Warm, Humid Week Ahead with Thunderstorm Risk

Greater Manchester is due for a week of "warm and unsettled weather" as the Met Office warns of rising temperatures, thunderstorm risks and very high pollen levels across the region.

The week starts bright with plenty of sunshine on Monday before turning wetter on Tuesday. Temperatures will climb through the week, peaking at around 24C on Friday, though nationally some areas could reach 30C by the end of the week.

Met Office forecaster Kathryn Chalk said: "We're definitely seeing a warming trend from midweek onwards." She added: "Relatively warm and humid nights are also on the cards."

Greater Manchester is also included in a red "very high" pollen alert on Monday, which will be a particular concern for hayfever sufferers.

Tuesday (June 16) sees a low-pressure system move in by morning, bringing a 90% chance of rain and heavier downpours. Highs dip slightly to 21C.

Wednesday (June 17) and Thursday (June 18) stay trapped in a cloudy, humid holding pattern with overcast skies and intermittent morning showers. Highs hold between 21C and 23C.

Friday (June 19) is expected to be the warmest day, reaching 24C. It will be mostly cloudy and humid, with isolated thunderstorms possible in the afternoon due to heat build-up.

Saturday (June 20) stays cloudy and humid with highs of 22C and a 30% chance of rain heading into the weekend.
