Manchester City Transfer Updates: Rodri Nears Barcelona Move as Midfield Rebuild Continues

Manchester City have accepted a £65.4 million bid from Barcelona for Rodri, with the Spain captain flying to Catalonia on Monday evening to complete his medical.

The 30-year-old's departure ends a seven-season spell at the Etihad and should trigger a busy end to the transfer window for Enzo Maresca's side.

Maresca said after the 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal: "We knew already before the game of the things that we need to do. It's not because we lost the game, or even if we had won the game, to think differently. We are quite clear in what we need to do and for sure we are going to do something before the window closes."

He added: "Any new signing, the sooner they arrive the better because we are starting the Premier League in one week."

What about Bouaddi?

City are advancing in talks for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, though the MEN stresses that a move for the 18-year-old is independent from Rodri's departure. Bouaddi was in England over the weekend as Lille played Everton in a pre-season friendly.

Interest also remains in Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez despite City missing Chelsea's self-imposed deadline to launch a bid last week.
