Manchester United are in contract negotiations with Bruno Fernandes after Galatasaray offered the captain a £17.1 million-a-year salary, according to the Mirror.
Fernandes has one year remaining on his current deal, with United able to extend it by a further year. The club moved quickly to open talks after the Turkish side tabled their offer, recognising the risk of losing their most important player.
The Galatasaray approach adds urgency to discussions that had previously been progressing slowly. Fernandes had been the subject of speculation earlier in the window linking him with a move away, but he agreed to extend his stay after conversations with Michael Carrick.
What about Rodri?
Across the city, Rodri has arrived in Barcelona ahead of completing his £65 million move. The Spain captain is scheduled for his medical on Tuesday and is ready to sign a four-year contract.
His departure ends a seven-season spell at City in which he made 298 appearances and won the 2024 Ballon d'Or. City are pushing to finalise a deal for Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi (valued at £85.6 million) as his replacement and have not given up hope of also signing Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez before the September 1 deadline.
