Manchester United close in on Leicester City's Louis Page as Michael Carrick rebuilds squad

Manchester United are intensifying their transfer activity ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season, with Leicester City midfielder Louis Page reportedly close to becoming Michael Carrick’s fourth summer signing.

According to reports, the club is nearing a £10 million agreement, plus add-ons, for the 18-year-old prospect. Speculation regarding the transfer mounted after Page was omitted from Leicester's recent squad to face Notts County, despite being fully fit.

If completed, Page will join Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Karl Darlow as new arrivals at Old Trafford. The revamped squad will face their first competitive test away at newly-promoted Hull City on Saturday, 22 August.

Defensive targets and potential departures

The club is also actively pursuing options at left-back, with Newcastle United's Lewis Hall understood to be a primary target. A potential breakthrough could be on the horizon, as reports from The Athletic suggest Newcastle are making progress in signing full-back Amar Dedic from Benfica, which may pave the way for Hall's departure.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly willing to allow young left-back Harry Amass to join West Ham United, despite currently relying on Luke Shaw as the only senior specialist in that position. Other academy graduates, including Toby Collyer, Dan Gore, and Ethan Wheatley, are also anticipated to leave this summer.

Rashford's return and midfield pursuits

Away from new signings, Marcus Rashford is being reintegrated into the first-team setup following loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona. New signing Tielemans, who played alongside Rashford at Villa Park, has publicly defended the forward's professionalism, while Carrick recently praised what the academy graduate can offer the team.

In midfield, United maintain an interest in Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton, though they face competition from Chelsea for the £85 million-rated England international. The club has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain's 18-year-old winger Ibrahim Mbaye, with Liverpool reportedly withdrawing from the race due to the French side's high valuation.

However, one player who appears unlikely to arrive at Old Trafford is Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae. German outlet BILD reports that the South Korean international has decided to remain in Bavaria to fight for his place under Vincent Kompany.
