Manchester United produced a dominant display to beat Rosenborg 5-0 in their second pre-season friendly in Trondheim on Friday night, with Joshua Zirkzee scoring a stunning solo goal and academy youngsters running riot in the second half.
United's senior players controlled the first half before wholesale changes on the hour mark allowed the youth graduates to take over. Michael Carrick will be delighted with both the quality of the goals and the clean sheet.
How did the goals go in?
Lacey (31): A fine curling finish to open the scoring and give United a deserved lead after Patrick Dorgu had earlier struck the post and Leny Yoro rattled the crossbar with a header from a free-kick.
Zirkzee (56): The moment of the match. An outrageous individual goal from the Dutch striker, who produced a piece of magic to double the lead before the youngsters came on.
Devaney (63): The academy graduate capitalised on poor defending from a corner to make it three, just minutes after the wholesale changes.
Amass (72): Chido Obi played an excellent pass to the overlapping Kamason, who found Amass at the back post for a simple tap-in.
Williams (84): Kamason was the creator again, skipping past his man and squaring through bodies for Williams to finish from close range.
What did Carrick say?
Speaking to MUTV, Carrick said: "Some players need more minutes than others. It's never going to be perfect, we are two weeks in. I thought there were a lot of good things. Some of the goals were fantastic. Just as pleasing to keep a clean sheet."
