Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek has completed a permanent move to Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old Czech spent last season on loan at Bristol City, where he made 41 Championship appearances and swept the club's end-of-season awards. He featured in United's pre-season friendlies this summer but did not make a competitive first-team appearance for the club.
Vitek told the Middlesbrough website: "The project here is very impressive, because you can clearly see the ambition and where the club wants to go. The mission is clear: to go to the Premier League. I think everyone at the club has that mindset, and I want the same thing."
He becomes Boro's seventh signing of the summer and could make his debut in their Championship opener at home to promoted Lincoln City next Saturday.
United are understood to have inserted a buy-back option and sell-on clause into the deal. His departure leaves Senne Lammens as first choice at Old Trafford, with Karl Darlow as backup and Tom Heaton as third choice.
