Manchester United have contacted Julian Ryerson's representatives and have the Borussia Dortmund right-back on their transfer wish list, according to BILD.
The 28-year-old Norway international assisted 15 goals across all competitions last season, more than double the amount he had managed previously in his entire club career. His performance in Norway's World Cup last-16 win over Brazil, in which he kept Vinicius Junior quiet despite barely training because of a calf strain, has not gone unnoticed in the Premier League.
Norway head coach Stale Solbakken said: "It was the calves. Fortunately, the injury held, it's just the strain. He hasn't trained enough. He'll look even better in the next game."
BILD describes Ryerson's combination of mentality, pace and strength in the tackle as "the exact profile demanded in the Premier League." Dortmund would reportedly consider offers over £26 million for a player who cost them £4 million two and a half years ago. His contract has less than two years remaining.
What about Nmecha?
Ryerson's Dortmund teammate Felix Nmecha is also on United's radar. BILD reports that United have the former Manchester City academy graduate as their top midfield target. Newcastle are also interested, having sold Sandro Tonali to Tottenham.
