Manchester United are weighing up a move for Chelsea's Andrey Santos after missing out on a string of midfield targets this summer, according to The Sun.

The Brazilian midfielder has been at Chelsea since 2023 but has spent much of his time on loan. United's interest comes after they were beaten to Mateus Fernandes (Tottenham, £85m), Sandro Tonali (Tottenham, around £100m) and Elliot Anderson (Manchester City, £116m), with Aurelien Tchouameni, Alex Scott and Ayyoub Bouaddi all proving complicated to land.

Why is the Ederson deal taking so long?

The Sun also reports that Ederson's move to Old Trafford has been held up because United want him to have two separate medicals before the transfer is finalised. The first part has already been completed, but the second must take place in England.

The Brazilian was only freed up after Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup by Norway. It remains unclear whether United will give him time to rest before completing the process or look to wrap it up quickly, with pre-season training underway and a Scandinavian tour starting on July 18.
