Police van and car badly damaged in Harpurhey crash as seven treated at scene
A blue Kia Picanto and a police van were left with severe damage after a collision at the junction of Queens Road and Rochdale Road on Friday evening. All occupants self-rescued.


There is a significant police scene in Harpurhey tonight (Friday, July 3) after a police van was involved in a road traffic collision.
A sizeable cordon is in place at the junctions of Queens Road and Rochdale Road, with vehicles from the North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service in attendance.
A blue Kia Picanto and a police van appear to have been badly damaged. The police van appears to have collided with railings in the middle of the road, with its front bumper completely hanging off.
GMFRS confirmed they were called at 8.50pm. A spokesperson said: "One fire engine from Manchester Central fire station, along with the technical rescue unit from Leigh fire station, quickly arrived at the scene. All seven occupants of the vehicles had self-rescued before the arrival of the fire service and were given care at the roadside by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service."
Crews handed the scene over to Greater Manchester Police around half an hour later.
