Levenshulme Market is one of the best independent markets in Greater Manchester and a brilliant Saturday institution.

What to expect

Around 50 stalls of street food, makers, vintage, plants, and local producers set up in the old railway station car park every Saturday regardless of weather. The market has been running for over a decade and is one of South Manchester's most-loved Saturday institutions. Come for the food (the Mexican stall is legendary), stay for the wandering. Brilliant for kids, dogs, and anyone wanting a low-key Saturday morning.

How to get there

Levenshulme has its own train station with frequent services from Manchester Piccadilly (around 8 minutes). Buses 192 and 197 run frequently down Stockport Road from central Manchester.

Levenshulme Market started in 2013 as a community initiative and has become one of the most successful independent markets in Greater Manchester. It's run by volunteers and is a non-profit.

The Talleyrand pub around the corner does excellent food and is a brilliant post-market lunch option. The Fallowfield Loop (the converted railway cycleway) starts nearby and makes for a brilliant walk or cycle through South Manchester.
