Manchester Christmas Markets 2026

Venue
Multiple sites across the city centre
Albert Square, St Ann's Square, Exchange Square, Cathedral Gardens
Manchester's Christmas Markets have grown into the biggest in the UK and the city becomes properly transformed for the six weeks they're running.
What to expect
Hundreds of stalls spread across multiple sites in the city centre: Albert Square (the main hub, with the famous Santa-on-the-town-hall), St Ann's Square, Cathedral Gardens, Exchange Square, King Street, and Piccadilly Gardens. Each site has its own character. Mulled wine, German sausages, pretzels, hand-made gifts, and the kind of atmosphere that makes Manchester feel properly festive for six weeks straight. The crowds are real: weekends in December are extremely busy.

Context
The Manchester Christmas Markets started in 1999 and have grown into the biggest in the UK, drawing visitors from across the country. Insider tip: locals know to come on a Tuesday lunchtime in the first two weeks, before the rest of the country arrives.
What's nearby
Every Christmas market site is in central Manchester so there's always somewhere to escape to for a sit-down meal. The pubs in St Ann's Square and around Albert Square are usually at capacity by mid-afternoon.
